Kea (Nestor notabilis )

Hated clowns!

Keas are known for their exceptional curiosity and playfulness. Their "investigation" of objects left unattended by tourists often results in damage. Keas are capable of using tools, recognizing their own reflection and they possess a remarkable understanding of mechanics. Opening closed backpacks and garbage cans is not a problem for them. Slandered as "sheep killers", keas were targeted by extermination programs initiated by the New Zealand government in the early 20th century, pushing the species to the brink of extinction.
